Hannibal Lecter
We all know him as the terrifically smart and terrifying cannibal. And that is true – he committed atrocious acts. But I would bet a good deal of money that Hannibal’s that his home was gorgeous - filled with objects and furniture that matched his mindset and pleased his sensibility.
As soon as I thought of him, I saw mid-century modern design which boasts a sleek and quietly powerful aesthetic. The coldness of chrome and matte metals, the toughness of leather, the geometric shapes and earthy - almost bruised color – palette really seems to pair well with him. References to Japan, the art deco era and Medieval times also nod to Lechter’s world travels. It was a lot of fun to create an inner sanctum for this character.
